You will fully discover the authentic Morocco with our 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes. You will not only visit the High Atlas Mountains, the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, and Ouarzazate but also the Rose Valley, the Dades Valley, and the Todra Gorges.
You will spend two nights in the Merzouga desert, where you will experience the camel ride, sleep in a desert camp, and explore the area’s unique attractions—such as nomad families, Gnaoua music, and desert oases.
You will also discover the Roman ruins, Volubilis, before we take you to Fes, our last destination.
Your driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8:00 AM. The adventure begins with a drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at over 2,200 meters. Along the way, you will enjoy views of Berber villages and green valleys.
We stop to visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its clay architecture and film history (Game of Thrones, Gladiator, and more). You will have time to walk through the old ksar and climb to the top for panoramic views.
After lunch near Ait Benhaddou, we continue to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert and home to the famous Atlas Film Studios. We then drive through the Skoura Oasis and the Rose Valley.
In the afternoon, we arrive in the Dades Valley, known for its stunning rock formations and mountain views. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
We will continue our tour driving toward Todra Gorges, canyons with cliffs that reach up to 300 meters. You will have time to take a short walk through the valley, enjoy the views of the mountains, and take some photos.
We then pass through small Berber towns and reach Erfoud, known for its fossils and dates.
In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, where you will enjoy a welcome glass of tea before getting ready for your camel ride. A local Berber guide will lead you across the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you can take beautiful photos and watch the sunset from the top of a dune.
In the evening, you will arrive at your desert camp, where you will have dinner served, followed by traditional Berber music and drumming around the fire. Overnight in a private tent.
After watching the sunrise and having breakfast at the camp, you will go on a full day of desert exploration.
We start by visiting Khamlia village, where you will meet the Gnaoua people, known for their music rooted in African traditions. You will enjoy a short live performance using traditional instruments and rhythms.
Next, we head to the Mifis mine, once operated by the French, where you will see how minerals were extracted.
The tour continues with a visit to a local nomad family, where you can learn about their daily life, hospitality, and how they adapt to living in the desert environment.
You will also stop at an oasis, where locals grow crops and date palms—an important part of desert life. In the late afternoon, we will take you to the hotel in Merzouga for check-in, dinner, and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will leave the desert and start heading north. On the way, we drive through the beautiful Ziz Valley, known for its palm trees and small villages between the cliffs.
We will pass through Errachidia and arrive in Midelt, a city in the Middle Atlas Mountains. There, we will stop for lunch. As we drive, you will notice the scenery change from desert to greener mountain landscapes.
In the afternoon, we continue to Boulaajoul, where we spend the night before we continue our way to Fes.
After breakfast, we start our trip to northern Morocco. We will drive through the cedar forest near Azrou, home to cedar trees and the famous Barbary macaque monkeys. After driving through Meknes, we will stop in Volubilis, one of the best-kept Roman ruins in North Africa. You will have time to walk around the old site, see colorful mosaic floors, and explore ancient columns, gates, and temples that are over 2,000 years old.
After visiting Volubilis, we continue driving to Fes, known as Morocco’s cultural capital. You will arrive in the late afternoon, and your driver will drop you off at your accommodation. This will be the end of our 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.

The Price of this 5-Day tour from Marrakech to Fes varies depending on the number of travelers, accommodation type, and travel season. Please feel free to contact us for a free quote!
The tour usually starts around 8:00 AM in Marrakech and ends around 4-6 PM on the 5th day in Fes.
For 1 to 4 pax, we use an SUV, either a Land Cruiser, Toyota Prado, or s Mitsubishi sport. For 5 to 8 pax, we use a minivan. For more than that, we use a minibus.

Your desert tent will be private.
The camel ride is usually about 40 minutes.
We recommend comfortable clothes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small backpack, and a jacket for the cool desert night. We’ll provide the rest!

The camel ride in the desert is optional. We can arrange a 4×4 transfer to the camp for free, or a quad bike ride across the dunes for an extra charge.
