8 Day Morocco tour from Casablanca to visit the imperial cities, the Atlas mountains, the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, and the blue city of Chefchaouen. This 8-day 7-night trip starts in Casablanca, through Rabat and the Rif mountains to explore Chefchaouen. Then, you will drive to Fes, explore its medina, and learn about one of the first capitals of modern Morocco. After that, you will head deeper South to discover the Sahara desert, experience camel trekking, and camping in the middle of Erg Chebbi dunes.
Further, you will drive towards Marrakech, visiting Todra Gorges, Dades Gorges, Ouarzazate, and Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. Finally, you end the trip by visiting Marrakech and transferring you to Casablanca airport.
The first day of the 8-day Morocco tour starts by picking you up from the airport in Casablanca. If you arrive late, we will take you to check into your accommodation to relax. However, if you arrive early, we will take you to explore the city and its main attractions.
First, we will start by exploring the mosque of Hassan 2 with a local guide. This is the second largest mosque in Africa, with a capacity of 105,000 worshippers. Enjoy the beauty of the Islamic architecture as you walk around and inside the mosque that is partly built on the Atlantic Ocean.
Afterwards, we will drive over the coast to visit the Corchiche Ain Diaba for a walk by the beach before heading back to visit Ricks Cafe and check into your accommodation.
On the second day of the trip, we leave Casablanca towards the North of Morocco through the Rif Mountains. We will make several stops for Panoramic views, a bathroom, and to stretch our legs.
By the afternoon, we will arrive in Chefchaouen, the blue city of Morocco. First, we will take you to check into your accommodation and leave your luggage. After that, you will have free time to walk through the blue streets and explore the medina. You can start by heading to the square of Utat Lhmam in the city center for lunch. Then, you can get to the Kasbah, the oldest building in Chefchaouen, which dates back to the 15th century.
By evening, we recommend hiking up to the Spanish mosque for sunset and the panoramic view of the blue city.
Today, we recommend waking up early for a morning walk through the blue streets, as the city is usually less busy at this time. Then, after breakfast, we leave Chefchaouen and travel toward Fes. The road takes us through the Rif mountains before reaching the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco.
Upon arrival in Fes, you will meet your local guide and start exploring the city. First, we will drive to visit the Royal Palace with its 7 silver gates, which is a great example of Moroccan architecture. Then, we will drive through the Mellah quarter to Borj Sud for the Panoramic view of the old city. Next, we will have a final drive to the Pottery Cooperative to learn about how traditional Moroccan pottery is made. You will see skilled artisans shaping, painting, and firing clay pieces by hand, using techniques passed down through generations.
The second part of our city tour is done walking with the local guide through the narrow alleys of the old Madina. Here, you will explore unique landmarks like the Al Quaraouiyine University (the oldest in the world), the Bou Inania Madrasa, and the Chouara tanneries, where they dye leather using traditional techniques.
Finally, after the walking tour, we will take you to your accommodation. Free evening on your own, you can head to the Blue Gate for a short walk.
Today, we are heading south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. First, we will stop at the little Switzerland of Morocco, Ifrane. Enjoy a morning walk around the city and discover the Atlas Lion Statue. After that, we will drive across the Cedar Forest near the ski resort of Michlifen. Here, we will stop to see the friendly Barbary monkeys.
Afterwards, we will pass by the open wide fields and hills of the Atlas mountains, home to the Berber nomads with their sheep and goats. These families move across the land in search of better living conditions.
Next, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Talghomt Pass, which stands at 1,917 meters above sea level. The next stop will be in Ziz Valley, one of the biggest sources of dates in Morocco, with endless palm groves.
We continue our trip towards Erg Chebbi dunes, the beginning of the grand Sahara Desert that covers 11 countries. We will start our desert adventure with a camel ride across the desert and make a stop on top of a big dune to watch the sunset.
After an amazing sunset over the dunes, we will head to the desert camp, check into your tent, have Dinner, and gather around the campfire to enjoy traditional drumming. You will also have free time to enjoy the starry sky.
On the fifth day of the 8-day tour from Casablanca, we recommend waking up early today to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes. The desert is very peaceful in the morning, and the golden light makes the landscape even more beautiful.
First, after breakfast at the camp, we leave Merzouga and head to Rissani, one of the largest souks in southern Morocco. This is where locals from nearby villages, including the desert, come to buy and sell goods. You will enjoy a walk through the Souk, see the animal market, the desert spices, where they sell clothes, vegetables, and where they park their donkeys.
Afterwards, we will drive through many Berber villages, desert Oases, and Valleys toward the Todra Gorges. These tall rock cliffs are a nice break during the day. You will have free time to walk near the river and explore the area.
Finally, we drive to Boumalne Dades, where we will explore the famous rock formations known as the “Monkey Toes” and then head to the panoramic view of the winding road of Tissdrine.
Overnight in the Dades Gorges.
After breakfast, we will hit the road towards Marrakech. First, we will cross the Rose Valley, a region known for growing Damascus roses. Here, we can make a stop to see one of the cooperatives where they extract the rose water and use it for cosmetic products. After that, we will continue through the Skoura oasis and the One Thousand Kasbahs Route.
Our next destination is Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa. We will visit the Atlas Film Studios, where many famous movies and series were filmed.
Afterwards, we will travel to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, the most famous fortress in Morocco. We will hike up to the top of the Kasbah, where you can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and desert landscapes.
After having lunch, we drive through the High Atlas Mountains via Tichka Pass and make a stop at the highest point of the road, at 2,260 meters above sea level.
Finally, we will drive down to Marrakech and check into your accommodation. Free evening to walk around the square of Jamaa El Fna for dinner.

We spent 8 days with Ihoucine as our private tour guide and driver. He made our whole experience so effortless, informative, and enjoyable. Aziz with Touring in Morocco curated a rich and varied experience for my husband and myself. I highly recommend the company and our guide and will recommend them to friends. Many thanks!!!
The tour was exciting, the stories and explanations of our local guide Hamid did not make us realize the kilometers traveled and the heat. The tour was perfectly planned, there was time to relax without missing the many opportunities to visit beautiful places and get to know the people who animate wonderful Morocco. Thanks to Hamid…
Our trip was amazing. We loved every second of it. We couldn’t have had such an amazing experience without our driver, Ahmed. He was so kind and friendly. He was there for us so quickly whenever we needed him. My wife even got very sick, he took us to the doctor and pharmacy. He even took us to some hidden beautiful places that were not in our itinerary.
