The 4 day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert is one of our most popular and booked experiences. It gives you time to see and enjoy many different amazing attractions. You will visit The High Atlas Mountains, the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, and one of the Atlas Studios in Ouarzazate.
You will also visit the canyons of Todra Gorges, ride camels over the Erg Chebbi Dunes, and spend a night in a desert camp.
Our 4-day tour to the Merzouga desert begins from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8:00 AM. We will drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, from where you can see Berber villages. The first main stop we will make is at the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a famous filming location for many international movies and TV series. You will have about an hour there hiking and taking memorable photos.
After you visit the kasbah, we will continue to Ouarzazate, where you will have lunch and visit one of the Atlas studios. Following that, we will drive through the Skoura Oasis and Kalaat M’gouna, known for the rose valley. Before we reach Dades, we will stop to visit the Monkey Toes, beautiful rock formations.
We will take you to the hotel to check in, relax, and get ready to travel to the desert the next day.
After breakfast at the hotel in Dades, we will continue our tour, driving to the Merzouga desert. En route, we will drive through the city of Tinghir, and we will stop to visit the canyons of Todra Gorges. You will have some time there to walk and take photos between the tall canyon cliffs that rise up to 300 meters.
We will continue driving through Berber villages like Tinejdad until we reach Erfoud. 40 minutes from there, we will arrive in the desert, and we will take you to the camp to check in your tent and enjoy a glass of tea.
Following that, we will take you to start the camel ride on the dunes of Erg Chebbi, take photos, admire the shapes of the dunes, and watch the sunset.
After the desert activities, you are ready to have dinner followed by local music around the campfire.
One of the best things to do in the desert is to wake up for the sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, you will have time if you want to do some sandboarding. After that, we will travel to Ouarzazate via Rissani, where we will visit its traditional market, one of the oldest and most important in the region. This market is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
From Rissani, we will drive through Alnif and some other villages until we reach the Berber village of N’Kob, which is surrounded by palm trees and historical kasbahs. We will continue our trip along the Draa Valley, known for its plenty of palm groves and historical ksars. We will drive via the Ait Saouen mountains until we arrive in Ouarzazate. Overnight in a riad.
After breakfast at the hotel in Ouarzazate, we will take you back to Marrakech. We will drive through the High Atlas Mountains once again through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Arrival in Marrakech is expected around 4, where the driver will drop you off at your accommodation. End of our tour.

The tour usually starts around 8:00 AM in Marrakech and ends around 4-6 PM on the 4th day back in Marrakech (or Fes, if requested).
For 1 to 4 pax, we use an SUV, either a Land Cruiser, Toyota Prado, or s Mitsubishi sport. For 5 to 8 pax, we use a minivan. For more than that, we use a minibus.
